About Us

ISTC will act as a common platform for the shipbuilding industry providing access to common facilities including ship design, software, R&D in shipbuilding, and test facilities, with participation from institutions and industry for academic and research purposes. It will also oversee the regional capability development centres around the country.

Establishment of ISTC

Union Minister of Ports, Shipping and Waterways (MoPSW), Shri. Sarbananda Sonowal announced the establishment of ISTC on 26 September 2025.

ISTC was formally incorporated as a Section 8 company under the Companies Act, 2013 on 29 March 2026 with registered office in Kochi, Kerala, India. The institution commenced its interim operations from Cochin Shipyard Premises, Kochi.
